Key Stage 3-Secondary

Online

Secondary

School

Students start year 7 with a broad curriculum across the sciences, humanities and personal development subjects. In the third year (Year 9), students typically begin the three-year program that culminates in the achievement of their IGCSE qualifications.

NATIONAL CURRICULUM

We use the National Curriculum in England as a basis for our curriculum. We provide challenging and stimulating lessons to develop our students’ literacy, numeracy and critical thinking skills. To further enhance learning, each subject area organises additional activities both during and after the school day. Our curriculum is broad and balanced to meet the intellectual, social, cultural, spiritual and moral needs of every student.

The curriculum for year 7 and 8 includes English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Geography, History, two Modern Foreign Languages French and Arabic, Computer Science, Arts, Life Skills, Quran and Aadab and Akhlaq.

Pupils are expected to start school at 09:00 am. The basic timetable slot is 60 minutes in length. English and Maths are taught for 180 minutes per week. All other subjects are 60 minutes each per week.

There are usually around 37 weeks in a school year. The year is split into three terms. Spring term starts just after New year and ends at Ramadan break. The Summer term runs from after the Ramadan/Eid holidays until the summer holidays. The Autumn term runs from the beginning of September until the December holidays.

Key Stage 3

At ASRA, we consider this period as a critical stage for our students, and the challenge is to prepare a stepping-stone for our teenagers towards adulthood. Studies have shown that meaningful experiences in our youth ultimately drive our passion and propensity towards faith and spirituality. Thus, this is an extremely important academic stage in the student’s life.

Testimonials

I really like my maths teacher. As maths is one of my favourite subjects, I am happy that I have an amazing teacher to help me improve and learn new topics. She makes her lessons engaging, allowing pupils to show how they worked out questions which is beneficial for all of us. She is very helpful and there to answer any questions we have in and out of class times.
